FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A bowling alley could be coming to Frederick’s Golden Mile, with the hopes of attracting more people to the Former Frederick Towne Mall. District 40, the management company that owns the property, said there is an ongoing effort to open the bowling alley where Bon-Ton, a department store used to be.

FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A bowling alley could be coming to Frederick’s Golden Mile, with the hopes of attracting more people to the Former Frederick Towne Mall. District 40, the management company that owns the property, said there is an ongoing effort to open the bowling alley where Bon-Ton, a department store used to be. “The plaza closed many years ago and it’s just the Boscovs that’s here,” said Frederick resident, Carrie Brister. The plan could bring more life to the area.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — The Maryland Department of Health recognized Maternal Health Awareness Day with an announcement of more than $200,000 in new grant money to expand CenteringPregnancy sites. CenteringPregnancy blends traditional prenatal checkups with group discussions and peer support. The nearly $278,500 funding would help expand the program. Elizabeth Kromm is the director of Prevention and Health Promotion Administration for the Maryland Department of Health.

TAKOMA PARK, Md. (DC News Now) — There have been about 100 water main breaks in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties since Saturday, and according to WSSC Water, it says it’s expecting more. WSSC Water spokesperson, Lyn Riggins, said when water temperatures hit a new low during the season, an uptick in water main breaks are expected as pipes get used to the water’s temperature.
