Dog attacks are on the rise in York Region’s three largest municipalities — Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan — over the last five years. People in Vaughan reported 209 attacks by dogs last year and 91 in 2020, the region’s health protection team said in a statement released this month. Already a Subscriber? Sign in Markham saw 134 attacks in 2020 and 202 in 2024. Residents of Richmond Hill, by contrast, reported 134 in 2020 and 176 in 2024.
