Prep won each of its five semifinal matches against Greenville by 6-0, 6-0 scores at Westwood Racquet Club.

    Winning the Erie County Classic's boys javelin competition wasn't a years-in-the-making achievement for Corry's Nolan Carey. The senior arrived at the May 8 meet as that event's two-time defending champion. However, topping the Classic's javelin pack with a record throw was an admitted work in progress for Carey. That work ended when his best attempt impaled the soggy turf outside Harbor Creek's Paul J. Weitz Stadium at 192 feet, 10 inches.

    Two Cathedral Prep players comprised half the winners after May 7's District 10 boys doubles tennis tournament. That detail is where normality ceased. The Ramblers' Ty Hulick and Mike Ferraro did more than upset three of the Class 2A bracket's four seeds. The seniors also finished first as an unseeded duo. Colin Troutman and Cameron Grieshaber, who were favored to win the one-day competition, were the last ranked tandem that Hulick and Ferraro vanquished.
