The Brevard County Fire Union sounded the alarm this week on what it calls a major public safety issue. “It’s already impacting public safety today. It’s absolutely impacting public safety today—the amount of burnout, the amount of frustration, and depression firefighters are facing,” said Michael Bramson, president of the Brevard County Firefighters Local 2969. He said the department has been getting by with forced overtime. “We tell people that we live off overtime,” Bramson said.
