Scott Hensley, who coached Braggs to back-to-back state quarterfinal appearances in Class B boys basketball, has been hired at Porter to lead the boys program. Hensley coached there in 2022-23 before taking the Braggs job, but coached girls. It's been a back and forth journey between the genders for Hensley, whose first head coaching job was with the boys at Quinton.

Hilldale took care of the business it needed to in game one of the home-and-home showdown with Sallisaw with the district title on the line. After clinching 4A-8 with the 9-3 road win Monday, the Hornets saw their 15-game winning streak come to a halt in a sea of what-ifs at home Tuesday, dropping a wild 15-13 contest to the Black Diamonds. That's 28 runs on the night with Hilldale (23-3 and finishing league at 11-1) having 17 of the 31 hits.

Getting everything going in the right direction simultaneously has been something Hilldale baseball has been hunting for, but the Hornets have for much of the year gotten enough of something to get the ultimate objective accomplished. On Monday it was about winning the right moments in what became an 8-2 win over a Stigler outfit that came in perfect on the season and in a three-way knot for first with the Hornets and Sallisaw in District 4A-8.

Chase Clark has over the last three seasons come into his own as a high-caliber performer on the hardwoods. The junior has been thunder to Okay's lightning over that time, joining Diezel Davis as arguably the best pair on any area boys squad the past three seasons, all resulting in state tournament trips and two finals spots. Davis was a Newcomer of the Year as a freshman on the All-Phoenix team in 2022, then Most Valuable Player as a sophomore and junior.

But amid the rivalry Tuesday at Hornets Stadium, there was unity.

Board will recommend Wagoner head coach Dale Condict as Muskogee's new head coach in Friday meeting at Rougher Village #okpreps

This so called retirement ain't. One of two stories. Not the way I'd handled something that didn't have the votes. Should have been tabled. By Friday this should all have a resolution.
