(WOWT) - Veteran lawman Dave Volenec was home alone in Blair when he faced the only danger he’d ever run from, but he still had lives to save. “Got the cats in the basement and went to get [my dog] and as soon as I got him to the bottom of the stairs, he turned around and ran back up the steps,” said Dave. And he had no time to catch 3-year-old Wrigley. “Next thing I knew, I was getting inundated with drywall and insulation,” said Dave.

Mary Woodrow died in Omaha, Nebraska in December at the age of 77. But now, her loved ones are dealing with the loss of her remains. Her daughter, Stepheni Leguin, grew up in Omaha but now works in Louisiana, where she had to return after her mother died but before she was cremated.

These ATMs are a legitimate way to convert cash into cryptocurrency, but they’re also being used to steal big money from innocent victims. The FTC reports that in 2023 losses to scams involving Bitcoin ATMs topped $110 million and the agency says older people are getting roped in the most.
