WXYZ DETROIT — Neighborhoods Day is a proud Detroit summer tradition! But its success every year is deeply rooted in spring planning and registration. Now is the time to get ready for ARISE Detroit’s 19th citywide cleanup brigade on Saturday, August 3rd. Get the word out to churches, local businesses, block clubs, and individual volunteers that the deadline to sign-up for the annual cleanup is Monday, June 30th. The cost to participate is only $50 dollars.

Teaching children to be water smart can be lifesaving. May is National Water Safety Month, and the Huron-Clinton Metroparks is committed to expand access to free water safety skills. Drowning is the leading cause of death in kids ages 1 through 4. Private swimming lessons can be expensive and a financial barrier for some families.

Once again, downtown Detroit’s Campus Martius Park has been named the No. 1 “Top Public Square” in the United States by USA Today. The park was nominated by leading experts but voted as the winner by the public. Campus Martius is in good company.

WXYZ DETROIT — It’s one of Detroit’s most popular and historic business districts. Greektown is a Motor City landmark and everyone who visits comes away with a favorite memory of their time there. We’re excited to see the area is getting a well needed $20 million dollar makeover. Once the renovation is completed, Monroe Street promises to be much more attractive and pedestrian-friendly. It will also be a major boost for Detroit tourism and Southeast Michigan’s regional economy.
