FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Fairmont State University has entered into a new artificial intelligence partnership that will give students in the National Security and Intelligence program more opportunities. Director Andrew Cahall said their Open-Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX) and ProWave AI will launch a summer pilot program focused on enhancing open-source intelligence (OSINT) capabilities.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Saturday is the 250th birthday of the United States Army and commemoration of the the 25-day, 600-mile march to Massachusetts to battle the siege of Boston in Shepherdstown. U.S. Army Secretary Frank Vitale said that a militia of 98 riflemen was the start of what is now a world-class fighting force. A big leap from one of their first missions of mapping the United States during the Lewis & Clark expedition.

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A former Buckhannon elected official will spend 10 years in federal prison in a child pornography case. Former Buckhannon mayor and city councilman David McCauley, 66, entered a guilty plea to one count of production of child pornography in December. Court documents show McCauley enticed a 17-year-old boy to engage in sexually explicit conduct for photo and video purposes.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Looking at rainfall numbers alone, you would assume the severe drought of 2024 is over, but that is not the case. State Agriculture Commissioner Kent Leonhardt agreed the numbers look great—data shows the northern part of the state is only about a quarter inch short of the normal average. Much of the rain came in downpours, so many important things like mature trees and aquifers have not yet been restored to pre-drought levels.

Preliminary totals from the Morgantown municipal election say the voters want the camping ban and the city manager to reside within city limits. Mark Downs wins the 6th Ward race against Stephanie Hunt. Jodi Hollingshead (Ward 2) and Jenny Selin (Ward 4) ran unopposed

The polls have closed in Morgantown and early and absentee votes are in. On the Camping ban- 380 voters say do not repeal while 335 voters say repeal. On the city manager question- 525 voters say the city manager should not be allowed to live outside city limits while 179 approve
