    Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders yesterday resolved to reorganise the platform  and fortify its structures ahead of 2027 general election. To prevent further escalation of the protracted crisis, the party set up a seven-man reconciliation committee headed by former Senate President Bukola Saraki to chart the path of peace. The committee is mandated to organise a hitch-free National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on May 27.

    Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara yesterday said he is not desperate to return to the Government House in Port Harcourt as his “spirit has left there”. He admonished those calling for his restatement to exercise caution, saying everything cannot be achieved by ‘oshobay,’ a local slang term for agitation. Fubara spoke at a service of songs organised by the Rivers Elders’ Forum in Port Harcourt in honour of the late elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark.

    The Rivers State Police Command has launched a search for one 66-year-old Mary Bassey Simon, five-year-old Delight Ikechukwu and her sibling Divine. Declaring them missing, a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, a Superintendent of Police (SP), disclosed that Simon resides at 22, Ibeto Road in Port Harcourt. The statement disclosed that she is fair complexioned, about 6ft tall, and speaks English and Ibibio languages fluently.

    The National Assembly has described the 11 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controlled states as meddlesome interlopers in regard to the suit filed by them to challenge the declaration of state of emergency in Rivers State. The National Assembly also claims that the PDP states lack the locus standi to institute the case at the Supreme Court.

    The office of the Attorney General of the Federation (OAGF) and the Federal Government may not yet have been served summons on the suit filed by 11 governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) challenging President Bola Tinubu’s suspension of Rivers State Governor Siminilayi Fubara, according to indications yesterday. Also being challenged by the PDP governors is the President’s declaration of a state of emergency rule in Rivers.
