During Emergency Preparedness Week, on now until May 11, pet owners can visit their local Ontario SPCA animal centre to pick up a free emergency decal and wallet card, while supplies last. The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal notes pet owners are encouraged to place a pet rescue decal indicating the number and types of pets in their household in a highly visible area of the home’s entrance to notify firefighters of pets that may be inside.

Thunderstorms capable of producing winds up to 110 km/h and a tornado risk will bring unsettled weather to much of southern Ontario on Tuesday. While temperatures could reach 23 C in Toronto on April 29, residents looking to bring patio chairs and umbrellas out of winter storage may want to hold off for at least another week. Environment Canada meteorologist Geoff Coulson said strong storms on Tuesday could produce hail up to four centimetres in diameter.

Campaigning has concluded and parties have made their pitches to voters in the 2025 federal election. All that’s left to do now is cast your ballot and watch for results to roll in on voting day today. Party leaders made numerous campaign stops over the weekend in a final appeal to voters. Campaigning was largely overshadowed, however, by the Vancouver car attack on Saturday.
