Arrest in April murder in Seaford

Delaware State Police have arrested a man from Indianapolis, Indiana, in connection to a homicide on April 8, 2025, in Seaford. 22-year old Andy Dorgilus was arrested on Wednesday, April 16th, and charged with killing 32-year old Rihem Frisby. Frisby was found shot on Clarence Street and died at a hospital.
Wilmington arrest takes three guns off the street

A 22-year old man is under arrest after a brief foot chase on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, in Wilmington. Police said officers stopped a vehicle just after 11 a.m. in the 500 block of Lafayette Boulevard, but a passenger fled on foot. Jermaine Winckler was caught a short distance away. Police said they recovered three handguns: a .38 caliber, a loaded 9mm, and a loaded .40 caliber that was previously reported stolen.
State lawmaker loses license for DUI crash

State Representative Kevin Hensley (R - Townsend), will lose his driver's license for a year, pay a $500 fine, serve probation, and attend DUI instruction, as a result of his guilty plea for causing a crash on Route 1 in Milford last November. Hensley's vehicle collided with a car on November 9, 2024, causing the other car to roll over and injure the driver. According to the Delaware Department of Justice (DOJ), Hensley's blood alcohol level thru a blood draw was .16, twice the legal limit.
Second suspect in Seaford shooting death arrested

Delaware State Police have announced a second arrest in connection with a homicide in a Seaford park last month. Troopers arrested 22-year old Jamal Riddick on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, while executing a search warrant at a residence in the 800 block of South Market Street in Blades. Riddick was charged with murder and 17 counts of reckless endangering in connection to the shooting death of 23-year old Schweitzer Dessin in Nutter Park on March 12th, that also injured two other young men.

The effort to extinguish a fire at a recycling facility at the Fox Point Industrial Park in Edgemoor has reached the equivalent of a four alarm fire. The blaze was reported around 5:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, and arriving units reported flames visible from the structure. Most New Castle County fire companies are either at the scene or have been called in to backfill stations. Firefighters and a fire boat from the Wilmington Fire Department are also on hand.

Troopers said the driver arrived in the area of Dock View Drive and Harbor View Drive around 1:30 a.m. to pick up a passenger, but when he arrived seven people attempted to get in his vehicle.

An Easter egg hunt turned into a swearing-in ceremony in Elsmere on Sunday, April 13, 2025. 5th District Councilwoman Joann Personti took the oath of office as the Mayor of Elsmere at Vilone Park, site of the town Easter egg hunt, at which she volunteers every year. Personti takes over as town mayor following the abrupt resignation last week of Eric Thompson. He resigned suddenly at last Thursday's Town Council meeting.
Arrests made in 2023 Wilmington murder

A New Castle County grand jury has indicted two men for murder in connection to a fatal shooting in Wilmington in 2023. 26-year old Nyzier Cannon-Wilson and 25-year old Aaron Watson were arrested and charged with killing 26-year old Zaahir Thorton. He was found shot in the area of 24th and Pine streets on August 28th, 2023, and died at a hospital of his injuries.

Delaware State troopers, and Newark Police, flooded the Las Américas ASPIRA Charter High School on Otts Chapel Road Thursday morning, April 10, 2025 as the result of an accidental shooting. The school went on lockdown as a result of the incident around 7 a.m. and police blocked the entrance as officers entered the building and investigated. Delaware State Police said there was an accidental discharge of a firearm by a staff member.
