A heated debate on the much-criticised proposals took place between councillors on Tuesday (April 15). Leader Euan Jardine and Leaderdale & Melrose representative David Parker both put forward amendments in the chamber, with Cllr Jardine’s passing by nine votes to seven.

But they will be on opposing sides in Atlanta as they bid to book a place in the US National Championship Cathcart represents the Lindenwood University Lions, while McRobert plays for the Life University Running Eagles.

The collision, on the A1 close to Grantshouse, took place on Monday afternoon. Police Scotland said that investigations were ongoing.

Traffic Scotland confirmed that emergency services were in attendance at the site on the A1 shortly after 4pm on Monday (April 14). A spokesperson urged motorists to avoid the area, with the road reportedly closed between Grantshouse and Cockburnspath.

2 1/1 AN AMBITIOUS community group has been successful in its purchase of a “special” Borders woodland. It is the culmination of months of work after the Broughtonknowe buy-out plan was unveiled to the public in 2023. Ian Brooke, chair of Broughtonknowe Community Woodland, said it was a “dream come true”. “We are really pleased to be able to have secured the purchase of the woodland – it is a very special place,” he said.
