(WRDW/WAGT) - Just 10 years ago, a third grader was playing for a traveling basketball team when he and two others died after a crash at the intersection of Riverwatch Parkway and Stevens Creek Road. The Eric J. Smalls Memorial Scholarship was established by United Elite Basketball, a nonprofit youth basketball organization, in memory of Eric smalls, the third grader who was killed.

Today has been significantly cooler, with high temperatures staying in the 60s & 70s as a northeast flow and wedge sets up in the CSRA of wind develops at the surface and cloud cover stays elevated, along with rain chances. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible later tonight. Heavy rain, damaging winds, and small hail are the main threats.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - There is a low marginal threat (1/5) for severe storms on through tonight and again on Memorial Day. Any severe storms that form will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail up to 1″ in diameter, and locally heavy rainfall. Dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning could also be a hazard. Rain chances look to remain isolated to widely scattered through Sunday night, possible becoming more widespread into your Memorial Day morning.
