Next month marks our 20th anniversary of publishing Marin Magazine. For that issue, you’ll hear from my mother and business partner, Nikki Wood. However, before passing the baton, I wanted to point out a few of my favorite features of that first issue. First of all, the cover! What would be our big splash? Back then I wasn’t as involved in the top line decisions, but I remember the chatter. Our little staff at One Harbor Drive, suite 208, was busy getting ready to announce our arrival.

As we welcome 2025 with hope and anticipation of the new year, our team here at Marin Magazine is excited to be celebrating our 20th year of publishing, which means delivering an issue every month to 40,000 residents (as well as a few Marin fans scattered around the globe), weekly newsletters and much more. Our March issue will be a detailed celebration of each year starting in 2005, highlighting the trends, people and places we covered. Here’s our ask to you.

“Hey mom, come to a Christmas fair in the Gold Country.” This was all I needed to hear to join my daughter Natalie and her roommate Syenna who grew up in Grass Valley, (the epicenter of this historically rich — pun intended — wonderland) and had a perfect 24 hours planned. I’ve always been intrigued by how this stretch of pine-scented highways and byways between my hometown and Tahoe has been such a valued part in U.S. history.
