Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Now through May 15th, the Animal Foundation will be holding an "Empty the Shelters" event, with adoption fees waived for large dogs over 30lbs and over 6 months old. A $10 license fee may apply. Adoptions will take place on a first-come, first-served basis for walk-in traffic, beginning at 11am each day. The Animal Shelter stresses that you shouldn't bring pets that you currently have along with you, as they don't allow in-shelter dog-to-dog interactions.
Clark County approves new ordinance for e-bikes

Metro arrests man seen tossing dug into dumpster

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Las Vegas Metro Police said Thursday night that a man has been arrested for tossing a Chihuahua into a dumpster and leaving the scene. 30-year-old Alexis Flores as the suspect in this case. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for three counts of Willful/Malicious Torture/Maim/Kill Dog/Cat/Animals. The incident happened on Monday morning in a neighborhood near Smoke Ranch and Jones.
Dozens of motorcycles go up in flames at local dealership

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Roughly 50 motorcycles were destroyed after a fire broke out at an east-side dealership on Thursday afternoon. Clark County Fire and Rescue first got the call about the blaze at RideNow Powersports just after 2pm. The business is located near Russell and Boulder HighwayFirefighters were able to quickly get the outside fire under control before it spread, and no structures were damaged. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire isn't yet known.

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - Warmer weather and increased outdoor activity boost the possibility of people encountering bees in Southern Nevada. Bees are active year-round in our area, but tend to be most active from the spring to the fall when they are beginning to set up new hives, according to the Nevada Department of Agriculture. A swarm of bees is generally not harmful -- they are moving from place to place to colonize new hives.
Rangers rescue two-dozens kids from the heat at Lake Mead

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - More than two dozen special-needs kids, along with three adults, had to be rescued from a hiking trail out at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Thursday afternoon after they were overcome by the heat. Park officials say they group, who was hiking in the Arizona Hot Springs area of the park, didn't have adequate supplies for the weather conditions, as temperatures pushed past the 100 degree mark.
Fire breaks out again at Wetlands Park

Las Vegas, NV (KXNT) - For the second time in recent weeks, a large fire broke out at Wetlands Park near Sam Boyd Stadium. The latest blaze was first reported around 7 on Wednesday night. Clark County Fire and Rescue were able to quickly beat back and contain the flames before they were able to spread. There were no reports of injuries or damage to any structures. A fire that broke out at Wetlands Park back on March 31 st scorched 34 acres of dry brush and took three days to contain.
Local men convicted of damaging rock formations at Lake Mead

(Dept. of Justice) - A federal jury has convicted two Henderson men of damaging ancient rock formations at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. According to evidence presented and statements made at trial, on April 7, 2024, Wyatt Fain and Payden Cosper pushed ancient rock formations over a cliff onto the ground below while on or near the Redstone Dunes Trail at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
Local man sentenced for trying to lure young girl to have sex
