MANISTIQUE — One point away from glory. It’s the situation Kingsford volleyball faced leading 14-12 in set five of Tuesday’s regional semifinal matchup against Kingsley in Manistique High School’s Bonifas Gymnasium. The Flivvers took the first two frames somewhat handily. A furious rally from the Stags was about to be extinguished. Then, in what felt like a blink of an eye, Kingsley senior Aizlyn McKinley delivered a serve that died in front of a Kingsford defender.

MENOMINEE — Six yards. That was the only thing that stood in the way of a Menominee win over Traverse City St Francis, a district championship and to keep its revenge tour alive on Saturday. Trailing 32-29 in overtime, Menominee faced 3rd-and-6. Junior Tanner Theuerkauf received the snap out of the shotgun and rolled to his right. Nothing was there. Theuerkauf re-routed himself and rolled to his left. As he rolled to his left he saw junior Dawson Bardowski wide open on a drag route.

Meet Lauren Sundquist, catcher for No. 4 Gladstone. Signed with MIT. Here’s her today hitting a home run off Gaylord’s Aubrey Jones, the reigning Gatorade Michigan Softball Player of the Year who’s on her way to Oklahoma State. Name me a better catcher in D3. I’ll wait. https://t.co/fSUTinFTAN
