Partly to mostly clear skies will last at least into the first half of Saturday. An isolated rain shower could enter the western U.P. Saturday afternoon. Rain showers are likely area-wide Sunday, with rain changing to a scattered mix of rain and snow Monday and Monday night. Scattered snow showers linger into Tuesday. Some snow accumulation is possible with this system, especially in higher terrain, so stay tuned to later forecasts as we continue to track this system.

Persistent lake-effect snow showers continue this evening. A clipper system approaches the area late tonight, which could lead to some scattered light rain and snow showers Wednesday. A few of these could also linger into Thursday for the western U.P. Highs Wednesday and Thursday will be in the upper-30s to lower-40s. Mostly sunny skies return to end the week and start the weekend, with highs going from the mid-40s Friday to low to mid-50s Saturday.

Isolated lake-effect snow showers could linger into Tuesday morning. Watch out for some patchy slick spots on the roads. Tuesday afternoon and evening look dry. Highs only look to reach the upper-20s again Tuesday. Another system could bring an isolated rain or snow shower both Wednesday and Thursday. Highs both of these days will be in the upper-30s. Mostly sunny skies return Friday and Saturday. We’ll have chances for scattered rain showers Sunday and Monday.

Areas of light scattered rain, snow and freezing rain are possible tonight into Saturday morning. Ice accumulation is not expected and we should see an inch or less of snow, though I can’t rule out up to two inches in the Porcupine Mountains. While this precipitation is going to be light, it only takes a little freezing drizzle to make for slippery roads. If you have outdoor plans for Saturday afternoon and evening, it looks dry.
