BOSTON — Running for fallen service members was important to Maggy Sarnacki. So when one of her friends asked her if she wanted to participate in this year's Tough Ruck at the Boston Marathon, she was in — even if she hadn't run a marathon before while wearing full army gear. But carrying the spirit and honor of two Berkshire County fallen service members — airman Staff Sgt. Jacob "Jake" Galliher and Pittsfield Police Officer Michael Silver — made the sore feet more than worth it, she said.

LANESBOROUGH — Have you seen a donkey near Stormview Road in Lanesborough? If so, it might be a missing equine residents are looking for. According to Lanesborough Animal Control, the donkey is believed to be in the area of Stormview Road behind Lanesborough Elementary School. Animal Control initially posted that the donkey had been attacked by a bear overnight, but later said that the animal is believed to be unharmed. As of Sunday afternoon, the search was still underway.

DALTON — When resident David Wasielewski visits Town Hall for personal or professional business, he has to wait outside. “I can’t go to Town Hall,” said Wasielewski, who uses a wheelchair. “Now, I park in front of the building, and whoever I’m meeting comes out to see me.”It's a problem many disabled residents face when trying to enter Dalton's Town Hall, police station or library as all are in need of improvements to meet accessibility requirements, according to residents and town officials.

DALTON — Food scraps in, methane out. Starting July 1, Dalton will launch its first townwide composting program — a community-driven effort aimed at cutting greenhouse gas emissions and keeping waste local. The plan became official on Monday night, after the Dalton Select Board approved the Green Dalton Committee's townwide composting program. “It’s fantastic,” said Tony Pagliarulo, a member of the resident-led environmental committee.
