    Bonneville Hot Springs Resort & Spa, the historic wellness center in the Columbia River Gorge, is once again a resort after not quite becoming a mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation clinic. Fusion Lodging, which also operates about a dozen Oregon Coast lodgings, including Inn of the Four Winds in Seaside, Ore., and Seagull Beachfront Inn in Lincoln City, Ore., purchased the property in 2024 and opened the remodeled resort and spa to the public earlier this year.

    Don Appert raised his conductor’s baton for his first concert at Clark College on Dec. 5, 1990. Thirty-five years later, he’s about to conduct his final concert as the college’s orchestra director. For 30 of those years, he also served as the chair of the music department. In that time, he’s said he’s personally conducted over 80 concerts, hired four tenured music faculty and about 20 adjunct faculty, premiered 12 of his own compositions and taught over 1,000 students and musicians.
