The La Center Arts Fair has reached annual status in its second year of bringing together artists with different mediums at Holley Park. The La Center Arts Council’s event brought in a couple dozen vendors and many visitors to explore, shop and experience arts and crafts on Saturday, May 10. A couple of vendors in attendance empowered artists and sparked interest and enjoyment to visitors.

It is a feat to beat the same team three times, but the Battle Ground Tigers softball squad completed two three-game sweeps of 4A Greater St. Helens League opponents in Camas and Union last week. The Tigers started the year just 2-8-1 before the height of league play was underway, now they’ve racked up a guaranteed six wins in league with a game to play on Monday, May 12, against Skyview High School, but results were unavailable at press time.

After the Prairie Falcons baseball squad wrapped up total domination in the 3A Greater St. Helens League with an 11-1 league record, they annihilated Battle Ground High School’s senior night with a 16-4 win in five innings on Tuesday, May 6. The win for the Falcons continues a new tradition as of late. Prairie High School has stepped into enemy territory against school district rival Battle Ground High School on the Tigers’ senior night and has won the last three.

The seniors on the Ridgefield Spudders boys soccer team entered this season with a foul taste in their mouths from last year. The Spudders’ 2024 campaign ended in the pigtail round with a 2-1 loss to Aberdeen High School. With the fate of the 2025 season coming down to penalty kicks, Ridgefield’s players made sure they would fight to see another day.

A “Stop Musk” rally in Vancouver near the Tesla showroom on Fourth Plain Boulevard brought roughly 50 people to the intersection of Fourth Plain Boulevard and Andresen Road on Wednesday, May 7. The rally packed all four corners of the intersection with a few counter-protesters nearby and drove back and forth on Fourth Plain. The “Stop Musk” rallies are slated to continue every Wednesday starting at 5 p.m. and Saturdays starting at 4 p.m. throughout the month, according to organizers.
