A group of Coloradans are helping to erect a memorial to mark the bombing of United Air Lines Flight 629 on November 1955 over southwest Weld County. A dynamite bomb placed in the checked luggage of the airliner – also known as the Denver Mainliner – exploded and became a fireball seen from as far as 20 miles away, only 10 minutes after the flight left Denver’s Stapleton Airport.

Construction and upgrading information technology are at the top of the project lists for work crews in the Adams 12 Five Star Schools as the weather warms and classrooms empty. All the improvements are being paid for by the passage of a $830 million bond issue in November 2024, say school officials. Eight schools across the district are scheduled to begin general construction work this spring and summer. Projects at these schools include roof replacements, paving, and new playgrounds.
