The Town Team has been awarded €121,242 under the Community Recognition Fund (CRF) and the allocation has been designated for the upgrade of windows at the De La Salle Pastoral Centre, marking the completion of an extensive sustainable energy retrofit project at the heart of the Wicklow community. The De La Salle Pastoral Centre first opened in 2018 and has become an indispensable hub for numerous local voluntary community groups and activities, fostering a vibrant and active community spirit.

A trek to Everest Basecamp was to be the trip of a lifetime for two siblings from west Wicklow. The brother and sister were spurred on to finally take on the challenge by the tragic deaths of people in their community and the loss of their mum less that a year previously. But shortly in to the 18-day trek through the Himalayas in Nepal, Catherine Keogh began to fall ill. Days later her and brother Pashty were in a helicopter racing urgently back to the capital, Kathmandu.

Under the guidance of Wendy Nairn, the organic garden has flourished this season, producing a bounty of fresh vegetables and herbs that the children have enjoyed nurturing. The garden open day allows the wider community to visit the garden and witness for themselves the amount of hard work and effort the pupils put in to maintain it. Pupils and their parents provided plenty of baked goods on the day, and there were also opportunities to purchase some of the plants and produce grown by the pupils.
