Garda Kevin Flatley was hit by a motorcycle at a speed checkpoint in north Dublin as he recorded vehicles’ speeds on the side of the road on the R132 at Lanestown on Sunday afternoon. The 49-year-old father of two had served as a garda for 26 years and had been with the Roads Policing Unit since 2018. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the incident on Sunday, but sadly Garda Kevin Flatley was pronounced dead a short time later.
