Kirstine Sonner is at the heart of the cafeteria at Polk Elementary School in Ogden. "They said they needed subs in the cafeteria, so I started subbing, and I just fell in love with it and I’ve just stayed,” said Sonner. That was 32 years ago.

SALT LAKE CITY — After suffering from a rare spinal cord stroke about two-and-a-half years ago, a 24-year-old is gearing up to graduate from the University of Utah this week. Brian Maynard used to love drawing and the outdoors. Now, he is still mostly paralyzed and is on a slow road to recovery. "It’s very, very slow. It's worse than watching paint dry,” he said. When Brian was a senior at the University of Utah during winter break in 2022, he was home in Cedar City with his family.

WEST JORDAN, Utah — Two West Jordan police officers were able to help save a woman after she made a 911 call and hung up. Officers called the number back, and even though a man picked up and said everything was fine, they heard the woman screaming in the back and were able to apprehend the suspect. "Thankfully we got there at the right time,” said Officer Edgar Breton.

SALT LAKE CITY — People around the world are grieving the death of Pope Francis. He was the first Latin American Catholic pontiff and passed away on Monday at the age of 88. People here in Utah are also feeling the Pope’s loss and hosted a special mass in his memory on Tuesday at the Cathedral of the Madeleine in downtown Salt Lake City. "It feels wonderful that so many people had a lot of gratitude to him and came to say our goodbye,” said Gail Lopez.
