PAYNESVILLE, Minn. — The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is reporting that a man who died following a confrontation with police in Paynesville was killed by a self-inflicted gunshot after an officer fired his gun. According to the BCA, officers were initially responding to a domestic incident on the 600 block of Stearns Avenue after 9 p.m. on June 2.

According to the charges, Bernard Bowens is charged with second and third-degree murder for the alleged killing of 17-year-old Layson Davis on Feb. 2.
