Highly selective capture of palladium from acidic solution by sulfur-functionalized porous carbon microspheres: performance and mechanism† Efficient recovery of palladium (Pd) from waste sources is of paramount importance due to its limited natural reserves and potential environmental hazards. Herein, a carbon sorbent, namely sulfur-functionalized porous carbon microspheres (SPCMs), was used to selectively capture Pd(II) from acidic solution.

AbstractThe tip of a piece of plastic fiber was dyed with thymol blue to form a temperature probe. The fiber optic sensor was calibrated on a heatboard by comparison with a K-type thermal couple. Fluorescence characteristics including fluorescence intensity, emission bandwidth, peak & barycenter wavelengths, and self-referenced intensity ratio were used to carry the information of environment temperature.

AbstractPalmprint is a promising biometric modality and has several advantages. However, many serious challenges severely restrict the development of palmprint recognition in mobile environments. Double-line-single-point (DLSP), as a state-of-the-art assisting graph, can be free from pre-processing, and effectively reduce the errors of pre-processing; however, its accuracy heavily depends on users’ cooperation and operation proficiency.

Though specimen morphology is routinely considered in the accurate interpretation of diffracted intensities, regardless of the type of radiation used, it is usually of less interest than the structure within the unit cell describing the crystal of interest (for obvious reasons). The present investigation has demonstrated, theoretically and experimentally, the very strong effects that the symmetry of the specimen morphology can have on the intensities in CBED patterns.

College students' mental health issues have become increasingly serious over the past few years, attracting more attention. At the same time, it has also been found that depression and anxiety are common psychological problems in this group [1], especially when students in a constant state of anxiety and depression eventually become depressed [2].
