Stepping into the lobby at Ashland Springs Hotel is like walking onto The Great Gatsby movie set. With jazz music playing softly in the downtown Ashland hotel, the 2-story lobby is steeped in Roaring Twenties memories. I wouldn’t have been surprised if a fashionable woman strolled by in a vintage dress. Instead, I watched a man dressed in a gold suit, sporting a Willy Wonka-styled hat saunter up a flight of stairs. He was headed to the ballroom for a Chocolate Maker’s Wine Dinner.

We always enjoy our time in Ashland, Oregon. Whether our visit to Southern Oregon is business or pleasure depends on the type of hotel we select. For this instance, we were concluding a road trip from San Diego, California back to our home in Oregon and simply needed an affordable, clean hotel for one night. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ashland fit the criteria for cleanliness and affordability, in addition to ease of access to the freeway.

If you are looking for a family-friendly and affordable hotel in Yuma, Arizona, this Holiday Inn Express & Suites is for you. The 3-star IHG hotel is clean and welcomes pets. Per usual, my husband and I were road tripping from Arizona, back to Oregon in the winter. This Yuma, Arizona desert delight was conveniently located 3 miles from Yuma International Airport and next to I-8. We were greeted upon check-in with a warm welcome and 2 complimentary bottles of water.

Winter, spring, summer and fall, Intercontinental San Diego with bay views in California really does have it all. Especially when you are visiting from the rainy Pacific Northwest in January. If you read many of my hotel reviews, you’ll see that I play the points game when it comes to IHG hotels. Like you, I’m on a budget when I travel. However, birthday weekends or special occasions are the time to celebrate. This luxury hotel with San Diego Bay views was the ideal 2-night stay for us.
