As of March 12, 2025, Germany has regained its FMD-free status for most of the country, with only a small containment zone in Brandenburg remaining under restrictions. The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) now officially recognises most of Germany as “foot-and-mouth disease (FMD)-free without vaccination”.
