NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — The North Andover police department is mourning the sudden loss of their community resource dog Scarlett. Scarlett, 23-month-old, English Cream Golden Retriever, was home with her handler and partner, Officer Mark Wilson, when it is believed that she suffered a sudden seizure, police said. She joined the department in September 2023 and despite her short time with North Andover, she made a tremendous and lasting impact.

BOSTON — A second person has died following a double shooting in Dorchester last weekend. According to police, officers were called to the area of 38 Franklin Hill Avenue around 9:46 p.m. on May 24 for reports of a person shot. Upon arrival, police found two victims who were suffering from gunshot wounds. The two victims were transported to local hospitals with life-threatening injuries.

Motorists and pedestrians are being asked to avoid the area of Broadway and Broadford streets after a manhole explosion. According to Lawrence police, National Grid is working the area after the explosion earlier Sunday morning. There are no injuries to report, and police are on scene. This is a developing story. An 18-year-old Massachusetts high school student has been detained by ICE. Milford Superintendent Kevin McIntyre confirmed to Boston 25 that a student was detained by ICE agents off campus this weekend. McIntyre did not confirm the student’s name or where the incident occurred. “We are all distraught by this news,” Mcintyre said in a statement.

A man was seriously hurt following a chase that ended in a fiery crash in Merrimack, NH. According to New Hampshire State Police, around 1:30 a.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, a trooper was driving southbound on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in Bedford when a 2018 Infiniti Q50 passed him at over 140 mph. The driver refused to stop, and a pursuit ensued. The driver continued southbound on the turnpike until ultimately traveling off the right side of the roadway, where the vehicle crashed.
