    MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - An animal rescue group in Alabama says an injured pit bull has died after it was left on the side of the road in a trash bag over the weekend. A video of the dog being found started making its rounds on social media. Brooke Whitehurst said she saw the video and immediately contacted the person who found him. “I did not realize how bad of shape the dog was in until I actually saw him,” she said. Whitehurst said she took the injured pup to the Semmes Animal Hospital.

    MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - A school bus driver fell asleep while driving, according to a crash report. The report says on Feb. 12, Angela Lane Weaver, 47, fell asleep, ran off the road and overcorrected. The bus then ran off the road, hit a ditch and tree before overturning on Mason Ferry Road in Mobile, Alabama. The bus was carrying 14 students. Seven were injured in the crash, according to the report.

    GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WALA/Gray News) - Family and friends are grieving the loss of a beloved elderly couple who were killed in a house fire in Mississippi. The fire happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Jan. 9 on Buckley Road, just off Highway 63 near Lucedale, Mississippi. Crews from five fire departments came together to extinguish the fire, fighting the flames for 25 minutes. The couple, 75-year-old Rachel Ware and 85-year-old Davis “DC” Ware, was inside the home when the fire started.

    MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - A woman is left with almost nothing after she said her SNAP EBT account was drained. Frances Jacobson said she was checking the balance of her EBT account on Nov. 9 when she noticed something was wrong. “When I checked it, it said that I had two transactions which totaled $173 but left me five cents,” she said. Jacobsen is just one of many victims. According to Alabama’s Department of Human Resources, hackers have stolen millions of dollars from EBT users.

    MOBILE, Ala. (WALA/Gray News) - A grandfather on vacation in Alabama died after suffering a heart attack when he rushed into rough waters to save his 5-year-old grandson, according to his family. Charles “Chuck” Graves was a father, grandfather, veteran and friend. He was visiting Dauphin Island with his family Oct. 9 when his 5-year-old grandson was pulled out by the current, WALA reports. Without hesitation, Graves swam out to save the boy.
