SYRACUSE, Utah — Ron Osborn has taught generations of kids how to win. Softball, baseball, basketball, football — Osborn has coached them all at schools and leagues around Davis County. At age 78, Osborn has a batting cage behind his house in Syracuse, where he drops balls into the auger of the pitching machine and teaches T-ballers to high schoolers how to swing. “I'm a trusting guy,” Osborn says. “You work with the youth your whole life, and they're so pure, beautiful in their families.

SALT LAKE CITY — Dwaine Elder has given rides to people from Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Elder works as an Uber driver around Salt Lake City. “They’re just at the various hotels downtown,” Elder said of his foreign customers. “They’re going to [The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints’] Family Search – things like that.”Workers like Elder have a foot—or tire—in Utah’s tourism economy. Foreigners are big contributors to that sector.

SANDY, Utah — Kristina Mrocek owes money to University of Utah Health. She isn’t sure how much. Yes, there’s the amount listed on her account balance, but Mrocek says it’s not so simple. She’s been asking insurance to pay more. While Mrocek fights, the state of Utah collects. “They've been withholding my tax return every year for unpaid medical bills,” Mrocek told FOX 13 News near her home in Sandy. Since U of U Health is a state entity, delinquent bills go to the Office of State Debt Collection.
