OAKLAND — A man was sentenced to nine years in state prison after pleading no contest to a fatal shooting at a San Leandro skate park, court records show. The plea deal was reached in January, just three months after police arrested Stevenson and a woman, Ebony Cook, on murder and accessory charges, respectively. Cook was released from jail the day after her Oct. 17 arrest, but missed a court appearance the following week and has been listed as a wanted fugitive ever since, records show.

OAKLAND — A Pacifica man has been arrested and charged with human trafficking, and police say he used his 4-year-old son as a shield when the cops came to get him. Lavell Boyland, 36, was charged with felony counts of human trafficking and pimping, and misdemeanor counts of resisting police and child cruelty.

NEWARK — A San Leandro man has been arrested and charged with arranging to meet a girl online, after an undercover cop allegedly convinced him that he was talking to a 13-year-old girl, according to court records. Cesas Daniel Ramirez-Sandoval, 30, was charged with arranging to meet a minor online and sending harmful material to a minor, both felonies. He has been released from jail, but ordered to stay away from kids unsupervised, and is next due in court on June 9, records show.

OAKLAND — A local resident was betrayed by his own ankle monitor, leading to his recent arrest and a new gun case, court records show. Maurice Herron, 27, was arrested on suspicion of murder, after police identified him as a possible suspect in the April 19 homicide of 33-year-old Roosevelt Jones. But Herron avoided murder charges, and was instead charged with possessing a firearm allegedly found when police caught up with him on April 21.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Nearly 18 months after the first of six guilty verdicts, the federal government has made good on its pledge to move some of California's allegedly most dangerous inmates into the federal prison system. Five Aryan Brotherhood members - Ronald "Renegade" Yandell, William Sylvester, Jason Corbett, Pat "Big Pat" Brady, and Brant "Two Scoops" Daniel - have been transferred from their state prison cells in the Sacramento area into the federal system.
