May 14, 2025, 5:00 AM HST * Updated May 14, 5:57 AM One of the last two phases of a repaving project for Māmalahoa Highway in Kona on the west side of the Big Island is scheduled to begin next week, with the the final segment of the project to be underway by mid-June. Hawaiʻi County Department of Public Works announced Tuesday:Resurfacing of about 3 miles of the highway, from Kalamauka Road to Ha‘awina Street, begins May 19. This segment of the project is anticipated to be completed Oct. 2.
