Entrepreneur Diane Foreman and her broadcaster husband Paul Henry have put their Auckland mansion on the market for sale. Foreman told OneRoof she loved the house but it was too big for just the two of them. “We always thought that it would be our forever home, but it got to the stage that Paul and I were texting each other and ringing to find each other in the house. We just thought this is so silly,” she said. “It’s a house that needs a family.

A South Island teacher who bought the school she attended for $500 and saved it from being firewood is now selling it as part of her rural lifestyle property. Judy Grigor’s father was part of the board instrumental in getting the Gore Bay Primary School, Hurunui District, in North Canterbury, built in 1929 and she attended it as a young schoolgirl between 1943 and 1948. The school closed a year later when the roll dwindled to just five students.

Sitting proud on its elevated 900sqm site, this classic 1910s bungalow immediately won the hearts of current owners Stephanie and John, when they were looking for a future family home, 15 years ago. Stephanie says that it needed some work, but the fire was going in the kitchen, which was incredibly appealing, and the couple were soon sold on the property. She and John proceeded to rip out carpets, paint walls and restore the tired pool – bringing the entire property back to life.
