More than 40 groups had inspected the three-bedroom house on Selbourne Street, in Grey Lynn, but Gretchen Houston and her husband Blair were determined that they would be the ones to take possession so they made an offer of $1.8m. Although below the property's CV of $2.58m, it was enough to bring the auction forward.
