The ordeal began on Sunday, April 13, 2025, around 2:50 p.m. when shots were fired near an apartment complex on South Church Street, officials said. Griffin Meanix, who lives in the area, told NBC10 he heard the gunshots. "Probably one shot and then four shots in sequence after," Meanix said.

According to Chief of Bridgeport Fire Department Steve Wodzick, crews were dispatched just after 1 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, to the Bridgeport Suites -- a six-story apartment building with 139 units -- after receiving reports of a fire. Upon arrival, Wodzick shared that crews found multiple people hanging off of balconies.
