Plans to transform a property, which is part of a retail premises into a new shop, have been given the green light after initial proposals for a hot food takeaway were scrapped due to concerns. The application was submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council's planning department for work at 17-21 Vicarage Gardens, off Stockton Road. Currently, the site, a combination of three properties, houses Stranton DIY on the ground floor and storage space on the two upper floors.

Plans have been lodged for a new padel tennis centre featuring six courts in Hartlepool. Proposals have been submitted to Hartlepool Borough Council planning department to provide the facilities on the site of the former tennis courts at Grayfields Recreation Ground. The land has seen "the overgrowth of vegetation and the deterioration of the court surfaces" in recent years since they were last used, according to proposals.
