Police are investigating a hit-and-run that occurred in the Town of Wappinger on Wednesday, April 9, at around 11:43 p.m., involving a black motorcycle that struck a woman and fled from the scene. According to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the female pedestrian was hit along the southbound shoulder of Spook Hill Road, off of Myers Corners Road. She suffered significant injuries to her upper left arm and left leg.

Dutchess Roots is making an entrance. Located at 2615 South Road on Route 9, it will be the Town of Poughkeepsie's first dispensary and the county's first dispensary built from the ground up. The woman-owned business was co-founded by a husband and wife duo. They have designed an inviting space and plan to integrate themselves into the community. The Town of Poughkeepsie's first dispensary will be opening soon.

A disputed mayoral race in the Village of Wappingers Falls has reached a conclusion after an official recount. A state supreme court justice ruled accusations of election law violations were unfounded. It was determined the case be dismissed, due to a lack of evidence. Kevin Huber has retained his seat as Village of Wappingers Falls mayor.

Another fatal stabbing has occurred in the City of Poughkeepsie. At 1:19 p.m. Monday, the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at 2 Oak Crescent. According to a City of Poughkeepsie Police Department Detective Division news release shared on the City of Poughkeepsie PBA Facebook page, police found Olga Hinds-Coley, 78, at the scene with a stab wound to the chest.
