Two individuals and five volunteer teams have been recognized for their work by Boulder County Community Services and received about $6,000 in funding total for their programs. The Boulder County Community Services Department provides services in partnership with the community that aim to enhance quality of life, support Boulder County’s diverse community of adults, children, families and elders, and promote economic independence and self-sufficiency, according to the county’s website.

A man, who was arrested in Longmont, accepted a plea deal on Thursday for sexually assaulting a Boulder child in June 2024. Mitchal Phillips, 29, pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a child – induce or entice; and second-degree assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The charge of child sex assault and a sentence enhancer were dismissed as part of the deal. Phillips is currently in custody on a $75,000 bond and is set for sentencing on June 20.
