This would be a reversal for the ages. The Philadelphia 76ers are the best example of what it means to be predictably unpredictable. The franchise’s decision-makers have long been known for their bold endeavors — so much so that everyone already expects them to launch a Hail Mary here and there when the need arises. And after the kind of season they just posted, one can only imagine how much more aggressive they could be when it comes to stepping on the gas.

This could be a sign of unpopular things to come for the 76ers. The 2025 NBA Draft is fast approaching, and the Philadelphia 76ers have to bear in mind that they will eventually need to settle on a particular prospect in order to set the tone for the rest of their offseason maneuverings. With the Finals already dawning on us, it is only a matter of time until everyone’s focus shifts onto the rookie draft.

There is no other way around it. The Philadelphia 76ers will approach the offseason head-on, starting with the 2025 NBA Draft. However, acing the draft is only one, albeit very important step, in the team’s summer escapade.

Too ambitious, perhaps? With the NBA Finals featuring two teams that have massively benefited from adopting a more modern and holistic approach to team-building, teams like the Philadelphia 76ers should start replicating the same approach that is rapidly becoming the new, winnable trend in the NBA. As a result, the 76ers are now more incentivized than ever to make a soft pivot and start rectifying the mistakes they authored themselves.

This should knock some sense into the 76ers. The season was effectively already over for the Philadelphia 76ers months ago, but the 2024-25 NBA season is only just approaching its most climactic point. After some unexpected developments in the playoffs, the league is down to its final two teams which will be facing off in the Finals — the Indiana Pacers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
