It was a little after 1:30 a.m. when Const. Matthew Kennett spotted a man matching the description of a suspect who had just pulled a knife on someone. Kennett stopped his Hamilton police cruiser at MacNab and Jackson streets and arrested the man for assault with a weapon. The man told Kennett his name was Michael Kane, born Dec. 3, 1983. He was wearing a black jacket with white stripes, white and black shoes, red pants, with black pants underneath, and a white hooded sweater under his jacket.

Hamilton police are investigating a shooting on a residential street on the west Mountain Thursday morning. One person has been arrested in the shooting on Juanita Drive, near Mohawk Road West and Garth Street, police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Other suspects have fled the area.
