It was a little after 1:30 a.m. when Const. Matthew Kennett spotted a man matching the description of a suspect who had just pulled a knife on someone. Kennett stopped his Hamilton police cruiser at MacNab and Jackson streets and arrested the man for assault with a weapon. The man told Kennett his name was Michael Kane, born Dec. 3, 1983. He was wearing a black jacket with white stripes, white and black shoes, red pants, with black pants underneath, and a white hooded sweater under his jacket.

Hamilton police are investigating a shooting on a residential street on the west Mountain Thursday morning. One person has been arrested in the shooting on Juanita Drive, near Mohawk Road West and Garth Street, police said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. Other suspects have fled the area. The 911 caller is hysterical. “Oh my god,” he says repeatedly. Through gasps and indiscernible sounds, he gets out that someone has been shot and the address: 16 St. Matthews Ave. Already a Subscriber?
