One man is now in custody at the Johnson County jail after a Monday shooting in Greenwood. Anthony Titus Humphrey, 44, of Greenwood, was booked into the jail around 4:01 p.m. Tuesday on two preliminary charges. The two felony charges are criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement, causing bodily injury. Humphrey was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred at a home on the 200 block of Dietz Drive at 2:56 a.m. Monday.

One man was injured in an early morning shooting Monday in Greenwood. Greenwood Police were called to a home in the 200 block of Dietz Drive at 2:56 a.m. Monday on a report of a person shot. This is in the Homecoming neighborhood, east of Interstate 65 and south of Main Street. Officers found one man who was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. That man is in surgery as of 9 a.m. Monday, said Matt Fillenwarth, assistant chief of police. Another man was taken into custody at the scene.

The Old Town Greenwood post office is looking for a new home as its lease remains in a “holdover” status. For the last three decades, there has been a downtown post office at 345 W. Main St. However, its lease has expired and is considered in a “holdover” status. Because of this, U.S. Postal Service officials are looking for a new location and seeking public comments on the situation, said Susan Wright, a USPS spokesperson.

Greenwood officials are sounding the alarm over property tax changes at the Indiana Statehouse that could cost the city millions. Senate Bill 1 could drastically change local government funding. The Greenwood City Council unanimously passed a resolution Monday night expressing their opposition to property tax legislation that impacts local governments without the replacement of revenue streams.
