Greenwood man arrested in connection with Monday shooting

One man is now in custody at the Johnson County jail after a Monday shooting in Greenwood. Anthony Titus Humphrey, 44, of Greenwood, was booked into the jail around 4:01 p.m. Tuesday on two preliminary charges. The two felony charges are criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement, causing bodily injury. Humphrey was arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred at a home on the 200 block of Dietz Drive at 2:56 a.m. Monday.

Former Franklin man charged after years of alleged child rape, molesting

Joseph “Joey” Tyler Moore, 22, currently of Indianapolis, is charged with rape as a Level 3 felony and sexual misconduct with a minor as a Level 6 felony. The most recent incident happened in 2022, but the abuse was reported April 1. A woman learned of the abuse after Moore told her he was “attracted to children” and the victim.

Indiana Gov. Mike Braun on Friday declared a 30-day state of disaster emergency for 18 counties facing tornado and flood damage — a day after the state recorded its 44th tornado of the year. One man was injured in an early morning shooting Monday in Greenwood. Greenwood Police were called to a home in the 200 block of Dietz Drive at 2:56 a.m. Monday on a report of a person shot. This is in the Homecoming neighborhood, east of Interstate 65 and south of Main Street. Officers found one man who was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. That man is in surgery as of 9 a.m. Monday, said Matt Fillenwarth, assistant chief of police. Another man was taken into custody at the scene.

Combining for 86 kills, the foursome lent an air of intimidation to the inaugural Johnson County tournament championship match, pitting Franklin against Center Grove.

The result, though, is one that the Cougars will try to forget. Class 4A No. 2 Center Grove wrecked GCA’s historic foray into the final on Saturday afternoon, jumping on top early and again defending its county crown with a 22-0 shellacking.
