    Blanchet House is set to open a new women's shelter this fall. It was originally going to be located at the corner of SW 13th and Clay at ST. Stephens's Episcopal Church, however, those plans have changed. It's now set to open in Northwest Portland. The building that Blanchet House plans on buying is at NW 17th and Lovejoy. They say it'll serve about 75 women once it opens this fall, but some members of the community are not happy about the plan.

His executive order says in part:"The United States has an abundance of timber resources that are more than adequate to meet our domestic timber production needs, but heavy-handed federal policies have prevented full utilization of these resources and made us reliant on foreign producers."Over 60% of forestland in Oregon is managed by the federal government.

    Washington's Department of Natural Resources is facing major budget cuts. Lawmakers cut their wildfire prevention fund in half in the latest budget. This comes as lawmakers in DC are proposing more cuts at the federal level. "Those are the significant cuts. The ones that impact our ability again, community safety. I would say these are the biggest reductions we're facing," said Pat Sullivan, the Agency’s Director for Governmental and External Affairs.

On Friday, Corbett Fire District is joining several other agencies to promote water safety along the Sandy River. The event will be at Dabney Park and is hosted by Oregon State Parks.
