Pioneer Methodist Missionary the Rev. Isaac Scarrit married young Edward G. Ament and Emily Ann Harris on May 1, 1832, and they became the first couple to be wed within what would, a decade later, become Kendall County. From that time on, weddings multiplied as the frontier caught up to the lands along the Fox River here in northern Illinois, and then moved on ever-farther west until the nation’s boundaries reached the shores of the Pacific Ocean. History is following our 45th president. In our country’s 247 years, we’ve had 46 presidents. Not one has been indicted twice after serving. Many of us, including myself, have criticized our 45th president for his actions. But ironically, all of us are to blame for his continued behavior. We voted him in, made excuses, and defended his actions. Most of his followers will continue to verbally and violently defend our 45th president. I trust that the normal Republican Party will not allow this to happen.

DeKALB – Kishwaukee United Way kicked off its annual day of caring this week by distributing $160,000 to 17 different agencies that provide services to those in need throughout DeKalb County. Cami Loving, community engagement director for the Voluntary Action Center said the $25,000 given to the action center will shore up an unexpected budget shortfall.

To the Editor:Thank you to our community for their contributions to the success of the Poppy Awareness Days in Yorkville on May 8-14. Parkview Christian Academy submitted 24 posters to our contest. First-place posters from their 7th and 8th grade classes were submitted in the state competition. Our 8th grade entry was selected first in the state of all grade 8 entries.

A former Lombard doctor will spend six months in federal prison after pleading guilty to health care fraud stemming from a mole-removal scheme he concocted to collect more money from an insurance company and Medicare. Prosecutors said John A. Greager II, 75, of Hinsdale, operated Cancer Therapy Associates in Lombard from 2015 to 2021 where he would routinely bill Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois and Medicare for removing moles on multiple visits when in actuality they were all done in one visit.
