    CRYSTAL LAKE – Hampshire freshman Langston Kelly has had a knack for making the most of scoring chances early in her career. She did so once again in a critical early moment against Prairie Ridge on Tuesday afternoon. Kelly used her speed to create another scoring chance and give the Whip-Purs an early lead. That’d be all Hampshire needed as it held on to stay undefeated in Fox Valley Conference play with a 1-0 win at the MAC Sports Center. “I just kind of see it and go to it,” Kelly said.

    The Joliet Fire Department responded to a residential fire on Tuesday afternoon in the 500 block of Liberty Street. At approximately 4:50 p.m., fire crews arrived at a two-story single family home and saw heavy smoke and fire showing from the rear of the residence, according to a release from the fire department. All residents were able to get out of the building and one juvenile was transported to Silver Cross Hospital for evaluation with minor injuries, according to the release.

    A Montgomery man was taken into custody Tuesday following a warrant being issued for his arrest for aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon among other charges. Donzell L. Washington, 27, of Montgomery, was apprehended in Montgomery on Tuesday by the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. He was taken into custody without incident, according to a news release from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

    No one was injured in a barn fire in Yorkville Monday night. The fire remains under investigation. At 8:18 p.m., the Bristol Kendall Fire Protection District responded after a dispatcher reported that the wooden roof of an old barn at a residential property in the 900 block of Lisbon Road had caught fire, according to a release from the fire district. Firefighters arrived to find the roof of a dilapidated barn on fire, according to the release. A home was about 200 feet away from the barn.
