    The next two history lectures at the Ottawa Historical and Scouting Heritage Museum, 1100 Canal St., will be just a week apart because of speaker availability. Jane DePaoli and Ann Newell will speak about the La Salle County Paupers Cemetery on Sunday, April 28. Then on Sunday, May 5, Hank Walsh will present Murder on the Illinois & Michigan Canal, with a few personal memories. Lectures begin at 2 p.m. for each. Cost is $10 with the proceeds going to the museum’s new building fund.

    A flagship attraction at Kennywood, the Steel Curtain roller coaster, will not open this season. Kennywood made the announcement Wednesday. In a video, the amusement park’s assistant general manager, Ricky Spicuzza, said the coaster will undergo an “extensive modification project.”“We understand the frustration many of you have felt not being able to experience Steel Curtain,” Mr. Spicuzza said.

Farrell did it at the plate too with three hits and a pair of RBIs. Ruari Bengford and Paul Kakoliris had two hits each for DeKalb (13-4, 4-1). Hinckley-Big Rock 11, Hiawatha 1 (5 inn.): At Hinckley, the Royals banged out 11 hits to match the 11 runs they scored in a Little Ten Conference win.
