    El alcalde Todd Gloria anunció el martes una serie de recortes presupuestarios "diseñados para generar ahorros de costos y minimizar la reducción de niveles de servicios", según su oficina. Gloria dijo que 31 empleos de la ciudad fueron eliminados, incluido el del Director de Operaciones Eric Dargan. Veintiséis de los puestos eliminados estaban vacantes, cinco no lo estaban. Gloria no quiso comentar sobre el desempeño de Dargan, reiterando que despedir al COO fue una decisión financiera.

    Mayor Todd Gloria announced a series of budget cuts Tuesday "designed to generate cost savings and minimize service-level reductions," according to his office. Gloria said 31 city jobs were eliminated, including that of Chief Operating Officer Eric Dargan. Twenty-six of the eliminated jobs were vacant, five were not. Gloria wouldn’t comment on Dargan’s job performance, reiterating that laying off the COO was a financial decision.

    When I was in the midst of a personal crisis as a young journalism student, it was a wise professor who advised me to take a step back and take it “hour by hour.” Thinking about the enormity of my situation was overwhelming, but focusing on small tasks felt more manageable. It’s not a piece of advice that solved my problems by any means, but it gave me a strategy to stay (somewhat) sane during a time of crisis.
