Dramatic images from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service show a fire tearing through the roof of a derelict building yesterday evening. We have put together a photo gallery below. Firefighters were called to the Comeytrowe area of Taunton yesterday evening, Monday, April 14, after numerous members of the public dialled 999 to report the blaze. Flames took hold of the old commercial property at around 7pm.

A large derelict building in Taunton has burnt to the ground. The fire broke out yesterday evening, Monday, April 14, and burnt for several hours. Smoke could be seen for miles around. As of this morning, Tuesday, April 15, the building has been completely destroyed. There remain hotspots and firefighters remained at the scene. When the fire took hold, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received multiple reports of a fire in the Comeytrowe area of Taunton.

A number of Angus cross bullocks have been stolen by cattle rustlers from a farm near the border of Devon and Somerset. Police are urging farmers to be vigilant of suspicious activity after the livestock theft. Devon and Cornwall Police said it received reports of five bullocks being stolen from a farm in the Bampton area, near Tiverton, in Devon. The incident is said to have taken place between 7.30pm on Wednesday, April 9, and Thursday, April 10.
