Simon Kennedy, who lives in Hunsbury in Northampton, said the overgrown vegetation along Hunsbury Hill Road forced him to veer off the pathway and into the adjacent cycle lane, increasing his risk of being hit by passing cyclists.

A day care service for older adults has appealed to the public to help find it a second home following what managers said was "soaring demand". Affinity Day Care in Northampton, which was set up in December 2020, supports 110 people each week. Director Fern Overton said she wanted the new location to be wheelchair accessible and have a kitchen. People travel to its home in Duston from as far away as Silverstone - roughly a 20-mile (32km) drive.
Northampton shopping centre hosts Romeo and Juliet play

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has performed Romeo and Juliet in a shopping mall during a national tour. The show took place in Weston Favell shopping centre, Northampton, in collaboration with local group Silhouette Youth Theatre. About 700 people have signed a petition in an attempt to save 200-year-old allotments. The landowners of the site in Brixworth, Northamptonshire, served plot holders a "notice to quit" in September. Green-fingered tenants said the Northampton Road allotments were an important part of the village. Cross Brothers, which owns the site, said the allotment association had not responded to its recent requests.

Corby in Northamptonshire earned the name after thousands of Scottish steel workers moved there from the 1930s. Police arrest 38 drivers after drink and drug tests

A total of 38 motorists have been arrested on suspicion of drink or drug-driving as part of a festive clampdown, police said. Northamptonshire Police has carried out checks across the county for its month-long Christmas campaign. Officers stopped drivers in Northampton on Friday to take voluntary breath samples and carry out roadside vehicle checks. The force said since the scheme started on 1 December, 26 suspected drink-drivers and 12 suspected drug-drivers had been arrested.
